Montserrat
No trip to Barcelona would be complete without a pilgrimage to Montserrat, long
sensitive people as the spiritual centre of Catalonia. More than 50 km (30
miles) inland from the city of Barcelona, Montserrat, literally "sawn Mountain,"
served as a Mecca for a religion for hundreds of years.
Founded in 1025, the Benedictine monks, has served here for the honor of the
Black Madonna "Mare de Deu de Montserrat" or "La Moreneta, a

Secció Antiga is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 2:00 am to 10:30 pm and
Secció Moderna is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 3:00 am to 6:00 p.m
By car, you can at Montserrat in A2/A7 motorway at Martorell, and follow the
signs to Montserrat. You can also take the train from U-Bahn Plaça Espanya. In
addition, there are tour Barcelona bus or climbing excursions.
